The cancellation of E3 devastated video game fans

E3 2022 has officially been cancelled. While there have been rumors circulating for several months about the show, today’s announcement came as somewhat of a disappointment. The show’s planners claim that an in-person event will happen next year, but many fans remain skeptical, seeing this as a potential death knell for the show as a whole. It’s hard to say for certain, but many players are disappointed either way. E3 was an annual event that many fans looked forward to. The news is especially disappointing for those who have never had the opportunity to attend.

Instead of E3, there are still plenty of other digital events. Geoff Keighley used today’s news as an excuse to promote the Summer Games Festival, and Limited Run Games have already confirmed that they will continue to host the annual “LRG3” event. Xbox and Nintendo will likely plan digital events for E3 2022, and will likely continue to launch them, with some tweaks. Players will just have to wait to see how it goes, but for now, it’s easy to see why some are disappointed.
