Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero She threw fans into an episode when she revealed that Goten and Trunks will not only play a role in the upcoming movie, but they’ll also be older than the little kids we’ve known once all along. A few years in the future, new images from marketing material from the movie not only confirm that Gotenks is in the movie, but we’re ready to see one of the funniest versions of the merging character yet.
With new images from the movie, which have been postponed indefinitely as a result of Toei Animation’s recent hack, Goten and Trunks seem unable to make a successful merger in the face of the Return of the Red Ribbon Army. Unlike Potarra earrings which can easily form a fusion by attaching a set of earrings on two different characters, Fusion Dance requires participants to perform a perfect dance in order to combine the powers of two beings. As we’ve seen in the past, a fusion dance performed incorrectly will result in an object much less powerful than expected and may be overweight or thin as a result. With this new image, it looks like Chunky Gotenks are set to appear in the movie.
Twitter Outlet DBS Chronicles shared the first look at Gotenks from the upcoming movie, which is not just an old version of the fused character, but also a funny amalgamation as a result of Goten and Trunks not being able to succeed in dance like they have done so many times in the past:
It’s possible that the upcoming movie won’t have any other fusion characters involved as far as we know, especially considering that Goku and Vegeta are training out of the world and not set to fight the red tape from any of the footage released so far. With fans discussing whether the movie might witness a hidden resurrection of Dragon ball Z Villain cell, Gotenks sure has plenty of challenges to overcome regardless.
