A new Tomb Raider game has been announced by developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix. At the time of publication, there is no word on the platforms, release date, or even title, and no timeline for revealing what data has been shared. What we do know is that the game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, the latest iteration of the Epic Games engine that has yet to fruition, but it looks set to offer some truly “next generation” visuals. As you might expect, this news was shared at State of Unreal 2022 today, a special presentation by Epic Games to showcase and highlight the Unreal Engine 5.
“Crystal Dynamics is very excited about the future of Unreal and how it will help us take our story to the next level,” Crystal Dynamics said of the announcement. “That’s why we’re proud to announce that our next game #tombraider is based on Unreal Engine 5!”
