AEW’s Tony Khan has given his first comment on Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE

Cody Rhodes is officially back in WWE WrestleMania 38 Last weekend, almost two months after his departure from All Elite Wrestling. Rhodes has since spoken to a number of media outlets about why he chose to leave, saying that apart from feeling it was time for him to go, there was a rift between him and Khan which he has consistently refused to reveal. Khan gave his first interview after WrestleMania this week with Sports Illustrated He was asked to address the elephant in the room.

“I lost a very prominent free agent,” Khan said. “But we’ll be making our debut tonight in Samoa Joe. In the past 30 days we’ve also debuted Tony Storm, who was amazing last week in her victory over The Bunny, and Jeff Hardy, one of the biggest stars in wrestling. We have a lot of excitement going on here, That is our focus.”

Khan previously spoke of Rhodes’ departure in a pre-revolution conference call, and said, “I don’t want to get too deep into it because a lot of personal matters are between me and (Cody) but I’ve tried to come to a longer agreement with him that goes beyond what we’ve had in years of choice.” It’s like at some point I think we were honest, and when we couldn’t sort it out, the last thing I wanted to do was keep someone here who doesn’t want to be here so it doesn’t look like we’re going to make a deal longer.

“I would have loved to have done it and have a lot of respect for him, but when we couldn’t come to an agreement on that, he showed us where we would end up with things,” he added. “However, I have said nothing but respectful things about Cody and will continue to do so.”

Cody gave his side of the story in an interview with diverse which fell on Saturday once he arrived at WrestleMania, where he said, “I chose to remain silent about my departure from AEW and will keep my word on it. There is no interview shoot. There is no outrageous tale going to be told. There were all these different theories and it wasn’t Which ones are true. I mean, there were things about money and creative control. It was printed as fact and it was very hard two months to see that, when the reality it was just time, it was a personal matter and we couldn’t get past it. I only have respect for Matt [Jackson]nick [Jackson] and kenny [Omega]. I encourage Tony Khan. His name will be in the history books as someone who helped fund and support this alternative and the complete revolution that became AEW but for me, it was time to move on. I get a chance in my dream, and I had another chance. And you really can’t leave any effort unchanged in that.”
