Analogue announces return date for Mega SG consoles

Analogue’s Mega SG console hasn’t been available for purchase for the past few months yet, but that will soon change. The company’s official Twitter account revealed tonight that the system will be back in stock and will be ready to ship on April 8th at 8am PT. In addition to the Mega SG itself, additional system adapters and a digital-to-analog converter will also be available for purchase. For fans of retro Sega games, the news should be most welcome!

For those unfamiliar with the Mega SG, the console plays the original Sega Genesis cartridges, and comes with an unreleased game called Ultracore installed. System adapters also allow games originally released on Game Gear, Master System, and SG-1000 to be played. It’s unclear if Analogue specifically timed the Mega SG re-release to coincide with it Sonic the Hedgehog 2 It’s being shown in theaters, but the timing is pretty much perfect. The return of the console should be just the thing for anyone who wants to revisit their old Sonic cartridges!

In addition to Mega SG, it has created Analogue Super NT, which allows users to play original Super Nintendo games. This system hasn’t been available for much longer than Mega SG, and today’s announcement has already led fans to wonder when that will come back as well. Unfortunately, no details have been revealed, but with the company busy trying to fulfill orders for the Analogue Pocket, it may be a while before we hear an announcement. Analogue systems have been well received over the years, and many have described them as the perfect way to revisit old video games; Fans can find out for themselves how good they are doing later this week!
