Kingdom Hearts 4 sparks potential interest in open-world settings

Coinciding with the series’ 20th anniversary, Square Enix set the internet on fire this morning by announcing that Kingdom Hearts 4 Now officially in development. The game was revealed with a new trailer that gave fans a brief glimpse of what the latest release in the franchise will bring to the store. And while there are still many more questions than answers when it comes to Kingdom Hearts 4 At this time, the official description of the game makes it look like it is set in an open world.

Given that Kingdom Hearts has never been in an open world environment, it makes sense that Square Enix could move in that direction.
