Jim Carrey from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 tells young reporters he ‘could get lucky’ and defeat Sonic

Robotnik hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to defeating his main rival, and it seems his streak of misfortune may continue in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In a new interview with Yahoo EntertainmentYoung Reporters Lila and Luna, Jim Carrey has been questioned over his many failures to defeat Sonic. Carrie was told he would “never win,” but actor Dr. Robotnik refused to admit defeat, stating that there was still a chance he could somehow achieve victory over his old foe.

“Don’t count on it. I have some evil plans that you wouldn’t even be able to visualize in your little human mind. I could be lucky. He could stumble. Imagine if he stumbled going that fast,” said Carey.

Carrie clearly has a huge passion for Dr. Robotnik, and that really shows in interviews like this. Some Sonic fans were understandably skeptical when the actor was first cast in the role, but Carrey clearly embraced the character, as well as his place in the Sonic franchise. The interview also features a number of fun redemptions for Carrey’s other films, including The dumb and the dumberAnd Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Robotnik Curry gets a second match against Sega’s Blue Mist. Carrey recently stated that he is considering retiring from acting, and Paramount has no plans to recast the character, should he choose not to return for the next Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Sega games and comics have introduced a number of other Sonic villains over the years, so it’s possible that they’ll take center stage in the next movie, and in the Knuckles spin-off. Of course, it seems like a safe bet they won’t be able to pull off against Sonic either, but you never know!
