Star Wars: Season 2 of Visions is rumored to be in production

As previously noted, Star Wars: Visions has not been publicly renewed for season 2 by Lucasfilm Animation, Disney, or any of the associated animation studios. However, new rumors are circulating online that a second anthology season is in production.

Synlinks Reports say that over the past week, “multiple, independent sources have contacted them” to confirm “visions for Star Wars 2 [is] in the works.”

While this information has not been confirmed by any official source, the rumors will be consistent with Opinion Disney was looking for a way to continue the visions after the success of the first season in 2021.

Interestingly, Executive Producer James Wu has already stated that the decision whether or not to return the successful anthology series depends entirely on fans’ reaction.

Wu spoke to inverse about the possibility of a second season, noting that “there’s nothing planned now,” but a renewal was definitely on the cards.

“We’re definitely excited and we love these shorts. And I think the approach was ‘Let’s see what the audience thinks and let’s react from there.'” — James Wu, via inverse.

So, assuming the information from Waugh is correct and Season 2 is only certain if there’s enough fan demand, how is Visions ranked by the community?

Fans feel the power of the excellent ratings

In the first few hours that the series was available to stream on Disney Plus, Star Wars: Visions was an extraordinary success online, and experienced a worldwide reach on social media platforms.

As more and more fans follow the anthology series, the online series ratings continue to rise. However, these numbers have remarkably stabilized, with current scores of 7/10 days IMDBwith an average audience score of 68% and a Tomatometer of 96% rotten tomatoes.

This initial positive reaction was followed by great reviews, with indy wire Describing Visions as “one of the best franchise titles in a decade”, with IGN Adding that it should “satisfy both avid anime viewers and casual fans.”

“A galaxy far, far away has never been amazing in animation, and at its best folds core Star Wars principles into compelling stories with characters you immediately want to see more of. I hope this isn’t the only season we get.” – Amon Warman, via empire.

The series was too nominated It has received numerous awards, including Best Animated Television Production for a General Audience, and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing and Visual Effects.

Star Wars Visions is said to be released later this year, 2022

Since Star Wars: Visions hasn’t been officially renewed, there is no public information regarding a targeted release window for Season 2. However, a recent report from Cinelinx stated that the successful anime anthology series will return later this highly anticipated year.

“Not only Star Wars Visions 2 It’s in the works (and that’s been pretty much since the beginning of season one), but it’s due to arrive this year. It’s hard to say the timing, but I’ve heard that September and October have thrown in there. So I think the general ‘Autumn’ release will be what we’re looking forward to.” – Synlinks.

While most episodes of the first season of Visions were shorter than a typical anime episode, having seven different animation studios working in season two means that productions can’t be combined like other projects.

The series was announced in December 2020 and previewed at Anime Expo Lite in July 2021. Assuming Season 2 would consist of a similar number of episodes, each with a similar runtime as the first, fans were expecting the Visions to return in mid-2023.

“Like a lot of Star Wars novels, what’s interesting is that there are all these other really powerful media, and Star Wars has somewhat defined this kind of storytelling across multiple platforms. And so we’re going to expand some of those stories to other media.” – James Wu, via inverse.

Despite this, Cinelinx reports that the same production companies will be returning to continue the stories they created in Season 1. If true, a fall 2022 return becomes a more realistic expectation but again, we’re still waiting for an official confirmation.

“Although I haven’t been able to say which animation companies we’ll be tapping into this time around, I’ve heard that there will be some returning studios that will be following up on stories/characters from Season 1. Again, I don’t have any details on the shorts themselves, so no I can tell you which continuations we might see. Either way, I’m really excited.” – Cineflex.
