AEW’s Tony Storm explains why she’s leaving WWE

Tony Storm made her AEW debut a few weeks ago and seems to have gotten into the beginning of a feud with Jimmy Hayter being played as an Owen Hart Cup match. Storm couldn’t be more exciting than the feeling of her return to wrestling, but at one point she looked poised to be one of the next big stars in WWE after transitioning from NXT to SmackDown. Storm recently explained what prompted her to leave WWE in a new interview with her I tuned an open radioThis could be down to several factors, including the separation from the family and the realization that WWE may not be the place for her.

Storm was asked if she missed home during her time in WWE, and that was definitely a factor. “I did it. I went for two and a half years without ever coming home. That’s after a life, about seven years of being on the road, I left for England, about seven or eight years later. Then, consider how much negativity you hear about WWE and add that on top of it.”

“I’m not saying I’ve ever had a problem with WWE,” Storm said. “I’m really grateful for the time I spent there. I learned a lot.” It was great. It was real, it was great, but in the end it wasn’t great. Something happened and I left. I felt like I was experiencing an out-of-body experience. Have you ever lost your mind? That kind of happened. Not seeing family in years and so many awesome things at once. I’ve been much happier since then.”

As for her release request, Storm says she realized this wasn’t the place for her, and added that she didn’t want to take a place from someone who wanted to be there. “I got freaked out and went home. There was a moment when I realized it wasn’t right for me. As much as I had romanticized it as a kid and thought it was my dream and what I had to achieve, I just realized maybe it isn’t and maybe it’s not the place for me,” said Storm.

“Who am I to take the place of someone else who actually wants to be here? It’s not fair. I’m still a wrestler. I spent years wrestling before WWE and I loved it. All there is to go back to is something that I love, how bad can it be? Why There was really no point in moving on. I didn’t leave on bad terms, it just became clear that it wasn’t the place for me. I love and respect all the women out there, they are amazing, they work hard and they inspire me. This wasn’t my place,” said Storm.
