Why won’t Thomas Cockerell return?

One of the main characters who won’t be returning for next season is Tom Raike. Thomas Cockerell played Rick, the lawyer and Marianne’s ex-fiancé.

The reason why the Australian actor hasn’t come back is because his character’s story has come to its natural conclusion.

Rick falsely identified herself as a member of high society and pursued her romantic interest in Marianne Brook, a penniless orphan who is forced to live with her estranged aunts, Agnes van Rijn and Ada Brooke.

Aunt Agness manages to see Tom Rayk’s past disguise and suspects he is a fraud. This led to her warning her niece that if she married she would be poor.

However, the young couple planned to escape.

At the end of the season, Tom Ryke stood up to Marianne changing his mind, hoping to marry Money and leave Marianne heartbroken.

Tom Raike was not related to any other main character, and since his secrets were revealed in season one, season two has no place.
