Thai rapper Millie turned sticky mango rice into a viral sensation after eating the traditional dish at 2022’s Coachella.

The 19-year-old rapper, whose real name is Danupha Khanatheerakul, became the first Thai artist at the Music and Arts Festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

“The department is collecting information on mango sticky rice in preparation for the UNESCO proposal,” said Chai Nakhonchai, director of the Cultural Promotion Department of Thailand.

The sweet dessert will be nominated for the proposal as part of Thailand’s “intangible cultural heritage,” Nakhonchai said.
