Disney suspends filming of Aziz Ansari’s deadly movie with Bill Murray after investigating a complaint

In a surprising but mysterious announcement, Walt Disney’s Searchlight Pictures has halted production of the upcoming movie being deadlyComedian Aziz Ansari made his directorial debut behind the camera. Ansari was previously confirmed in the movie as well, appearing alongside Bill Murray, Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer. to me Limit, the project was filmed about halfway before the sudden hiatus in filming began this week which is not related to COVID-19. Although it was unclear what happened, a letter from the studio to the crew confirmed that they had halted production after a complaint was filed and investigated with an eye on resuming production at a later time in the cards.

The exact nature of the complaint that was filed and the production forced to stop remains unclear, but commercial reports say it’s not a complaint against Ansari, who was previously the subject of controversial allegations later taken up in a Netflix special. Ansari and his co-producer Yuri Henley are still negotiating with the studio about starting the project and getting back on it.

In the letter to the cast and crew, Searchlight wrote: “Late last week, we became aware of a complaint, and immediately considered it. After reviewing the circumstances, it was determined that production could not continue at this time. We are truly grateful to all of you for all you have given us on this The project. We hope to resume production and work with Aziz and Yuri to find out the timing. Production will be in touch with you to share details about the cover, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have more information to share.”

Based on the book of Atul Gawande, Being Dead: Medicine and What Matters in the End is a non-fiction title that explores end-of-life care and hospice care. It is unclear how the book was adapted into a feature film but the film was slated for a pre-release in 2023. The sudden stop in filming also makes its release plans uncertain as well. The book was previously adapted into an episode of PBS Frontline for which it was nominated for an Emmy Award.
