Early life and high school
Eric Weddell was born on January 4, 1985 in Fontana, California, and grew up in the Alta Loma area of Rancho Cucamonga. There, he went to Alta Loma High School, where he wrote in football as well as baseball and basketball. As the football captain, he scored 129 tackles, five interceptions, 587 yards dribbling, and 22 touchdowns. Furthermore, Weddle was an all-league pick three times, and helped lead his team to the Mt Baldy League Championship in 2000.
college career
For college, Weddell attended the University of Utah from 2003 to 2006. He was immediately sent to work with the Utes football team, and scored 60 tackles with four sacks in his freshman year. As a sophomore, Weddle has moved to strong security and deployed 75 treatments and one bag. He had a better year when he was young with 78 tackles and four sacks, which earned him the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year award. In his final year with Utes, Weddle was a consensus pick for the All-American and All-MWC first team. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has scored 277 tackles; He also set a school record with nine compulsory attempts.
San Diego Chargers
In the 2007 NFL Draft, Weddle was selected in the second round by the San Diego Chargers. He made his regular season debut in the season opener against the Chicago Bears, posting three singles tackles and a sack. Later, in Week 17, Weddle scored a season high with six joint tackles. He finished his rookie season with 53 joint tackles and interceptions. With the Charger finished on top of West Asia, Weddell then made his NFL playoff debut with a victory over the Tennessee Titans. After defeating the Indianapolis Colts on the Divisional Tour, the Chargers then fell to the New England Patriots in the championship game. In 2008, Weddle started the season with 11 joint interventions. He finished the season 127th in his career, once again helping the Chargers reach the AFC group stage. The following year, he finished the season with 115 combined tackles and interceptions, and led the freight team to the AFC division. In 2015, Weddle scored a season high of 13 combined interference in a Week 9 loss to the Chicago Bears. He went on to play his last game with the Chargers in Week 16, losing to the Oakland Raiders.

Baltimore Ravens
Weddle signed with the Baltimore Ravens in March 2016. Later in the year, he scored a season high of 11 joint interference in the loss to the New England Patriots. He finished the season with 89 combined tackles and 13 assist deflections in his career; Furthermore, he was selected to play in the Pro Bowl. In 2017, Weddle finished with 63 combined interferences and was again voted for the Pro Bowl. In his final season with the Ravens in 2018, he scored 68 combined tackle and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the third time in a row.
Los Angeles Rams and retirement
In March of 2019, Weddle signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Among his accomplishments during this first Rams period, he finished his second season with 108 tackles. Weddle later announced his retirement to the NFL in early 2020. However, after Rams Safety Jordan Fuller sustained an injury and a safety Taylor Rapp began his concussion protocol, Weddle came out of retirement to sign with the team’s coaching staff. During the NFC Championship game, the Rams led with nine tackles in a win over the San Francisco 49ers. Thus the Weddle and the Rams advanced to Super Bowl LVI, winning the title 23-20 over the Cincinnati Bengals. After this victory, Weddle once again announced his retirement from the NFL.
