Vince McMahon believes Rob Van Dam was already in the WWE Hall of Fame before induction 2021

Rob Van Dam was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class, and the inclusion made all the world sense to both fans and WWE. That’s why Vince McMahon actually didn’t initially consider Van Damme for the 2021 Hall of Fame category, something Van Damme revealed in a new interview with I tuned an open radio. During that conversation, Rob Van Dam revealed an exchange between Michael Hayes and McMahon, who were both considering the candidates. Vince made the remark that RVD was already in the Hall of Fame, and Hayes had to tell him he wasn’t inducted yet.

“It was great. You know, whenever the area code 203 comes up on my cell phone, I’m like, ‘Okay, let me see.'” Let me try to get a feel for my feelings about it. It was Johnny Ice. “Hey, Vince wanted me to call you and see if you’d be interested in inducting into the Hall of Fame this year,” said Van Damme.

“I knew it, I think it was Michael Hayes who told me they were sitting around the table like they did when it came up. I think Vince said something with the effect of ‘Very bad RVD is already in the Hall of Fame, or he’d be a good candidate for this year,'” he said. One of them, I think, was Michael Hayes, ‘Vince, RVD is not in the Hall of Fame. ‘ He thought I was and am still like, ‘What?’ It’s really cool how it happened, said Van Damme, and I’m glad, of course, to be a part of it.

The 2021 Hall of Fame class included Van Damme, Kane, Molly Holly, Eric Bischoff, and Great Khalil. Ozzy Osbourne was also entered as part of the Celebrity Wing, and Rich Hering won a Warrior Award. During the interview, Van Damme also talked about his speech, which was supposed to be in three to five minutes and ended up being close to 30.

“It wasn’t until later that I realized they said go three to five minutes,” Van Damme said. “Molly Holly was really upset because she had prepared a really long speech, you know, with help, and she was like, really painful.”

“To me, I was like, OK, I don’t know what I’m going to say anyway. So it sucks, you know, three to five minutes. I’ve stayed all my life and listened to all these wonderful things and long speeches about all these myths. Now I’ll be before Empty yard, and in three minutes, I’ll say thank you. But I thought I’d go in for a long, you know, maybe five or six minutes and give them things to adjust. I went 26 minutes and didn’t realize it, I guess nobody was there. It was weird,” he said Van Dam.

“I would say one thing and they would turn up the clap until I had an idea. Then I would say something else. I had no idea I had gone that far, but no one seemed upset. I think it probably bothered me more than anyone as far as I could possibly be.” I say just because I felt like I overstepped the bounds too much,” Van Damme said.
