Nicholas Cage addressed that rumor that he had bought a bat cave. Jimmy Kimmel welcomed the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star to his late-night show this week. There were many bats, but especially were surrounding his wildlife. Diane Kruger was on the show recently, and she said her partner in National Treasure made her push with the purchase. However, Cage says he did not actually buy the cave, but rather visited the cave in North Dakota. The story that the actor weaves on the subject covers the four main elements, the word spelunking, and a reference to the Ghost Rider. So, it’s kind of a journey to be honest. But Cage fully welcomed the question and the opportunity to clear the air. With so many previous projects and news stories surrounding the star, it’s not unusual for him to address such popular rumors openly. Check out what he said below.
“I like that you’re asking me these questions, because I’m going to use one of my favorite words, cave search,” he said to applause. “I had an interest in exploring all the elements. Did you know? I got my degree in the Great Barrier Reef. I discovered the water element. Air? I didn’t really get as far as I wanted. I wanted to be a hang glider. It didn’t happen. Fire? I felt like a Ghost Rider.” I explored the element of fire. For Earth, I thought, “Yes, I want to start exploring caves. I want to start exploring caves.” I think we were in North Dakota in the Black Hills when we were shooting one of the treasure movies, so I said, “I heard there’s a cave for sale. Let’s go take a look at it!” And I did.”
“It was beautiful, and that’s good for a 420, isn’t it? All these stalagmites. And everything was like milky quartz, like crystal walls,” Cage described. “I thought, you know at the time I was married, and I was like, ‘I’d like to buy this and go down the cave and get completely undressed with my wife and drink my glory. At the bottom of a cave in the ground. Needless to say, I didn’t buy the cave.”
