Given how frequently McGregor has expressed his desire to return to the role, the actor often jokes that he feels like he was specifically asking Lucasfilm for a job, and quickly adds, “Here I am again…the door again!”
Understandably, with McGregor’s time hoping to return, the experience could not have been as rich as he had hoped, although he admitted that wasn’t the case at all.
“It was great to be back and to bridge that gap between me and Alec Guinness,” the actor noted. “I got as much, or more, of it running this time as I did in the first three films together. And that’s about the writing, the people we were making the series with, the technology, and how different everything is.”
Disney+ describes the new series, “In the era of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies who have turned into enemies and confront the wrath of the Empire.”
While the series’ first season has been described as a limited event, with the Star Wars universe expanding in so many ways, we can’t rule out seeing more Kenobi in a future project.
