Adam Sandler confirms reunion with directors of Uncut Gems for new movie

The Sandman and Safdie Brothers have officially rebooted it. Adam Sandler gave one of the best performances of his entire career in 2019, swapping out his usual comedic chops with gold chains and dirty smiles in Josh and Benny Safdie’s popular thriller Uncut Gemstones. The role of Howard Ratner was unlike any other Sandler had played over the years and was met with instant praise, with many believing that he should have won an Academy Award for the performance. Sandler and Safdies made an amazing team and are now preparing to work together for the second time.

During a recent interview with EWSandler confirmed that he would “direct another film with the Safdie brothers.” This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given how welcoming their first partnership was. Unfortunately, Sandler did not delve into the details of the new project.

“They are working hard on it,” he said of Safdies. “Their work ethic is bananas. They’re always working, always writing, and always thinking. I don’t know what I can tell you, but it’s going to be very exciting. It’s different. But I never want them to say, ‘What the hell did I tell him that for?” So I’ll just let them talk [about it]. “

No details are available yet regarding the new Sander/Safdie movie, so there’s no word yet on when production will begin or when it will eventually be shown in cinemas. However, we will have no shortage of Sandler between now and the arrival of Safdie’s next project. The Sandman has two new movies coming to Netflix this year. Accelerates, a movie about a basketball explorer trying to strike gold with an unproven player, hits the streaming service this summer. Later in the year, Sandler can be seen in the film astronautside by side Batman Star Paul Dano.
