The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aims to achieve net industry greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In order to achieve this goal, the entity recently unveiled the Aviation Climate Action Plan, which focuses on identifying the most important contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, as well as To more efficient engines and sustainable aviation fuels must be pursued. At such a moment, a company made in Italy could pave the way for a greener aviation industry.

In a market dominated by multinational corporations, Magnaghi Aeronautica is an Italian company distinguished for its quality in the design, certification, production and subsequent marketing of landing gear systems, equipment, hydraulic and electronic systems for aviation applications. According to Paolo Graziano, CEO and President of the company, it is the typical resourcefulness of Italians, technical skills and technological research that allow the MA group to compete with significantly larger American or Chinese companies.

Over the past years, Magnaghi Aeronautica (MA Group) has consistently worked to pursue the environmental agenda. For Graziano, this is no longer an option, but a duty that every company in their pipeline must assume. “Committing to protecting the planet means respecting future generations by giving them a healthy ecosystem,” says the CEO, adding that the MA Group Landing Green project was created for exactly that reason.

The MA Group Landing Green project includes a series of initiatives aimed at improving recycling, reuse and energy savings processes, as well as making the concept of sustainability relevant to the company’s operability in all respects. “In R&D also we try to find innovative solutions and technologies as ‘green’ as possible,” Graziano adds, by pointing out how these solutions can be applied to vehicles. “It is also possible that we will produce vehicles for aircraft that are entirely electric, and therefore fully sustainable and technologically advanced.”

In 2022, the MA Group decided to add sustainability to its balance sheet so that this can certainly be identified as an important indicator. After all, these actions and the projects that are implemented deserve special attention and the company is happy to share the news with its employees and customers. Graziano concludes that “it is the ability to adapt, find quick solutions, and respond quickly to customer requests that allow us to compete.”

Recently, Magnaghi Aeronautica was also recognized as Top Employer 2022 in Italy, which shows that the company also pays close attention to the well-being of its employees. “Technology without the competence of technicians to supervise it is useless. We not only have the technologies and engineering processes that represent the latest technology in our sector, but also highly qualified technicians, whom I know well and have my absolute confidence,” he told the CEO.

As a result of their outstanding work, Neapolitan recently signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing to provide fully integrated landing gear systems for the DEFIANT X® aircraft, consisting of the nose and main landing gear, rear shock absorber assembly, extension/retraction system with wheels and brakes. According to Graziano, this agreement represents an important development in the global landing gear solutions of the MA group, as it is given access to advanced developments in the US defense market.

Magnaghi is the core of the MA Group, synonymous with excellence in the aviation sector. From its inception, in 1936, until today, the company has conquered the international market, becoming a partner with some of the most important aircraft manufacturers in the world. With offices in Italy, the United States and Brazil, the MA Group’s revenue has grown from €19 million to €91 million in the past 20 years.
