Dying Light 2 developer addresses whether cut content can be returned as DLC

Dying Light 2 Stay Human Developer Techland has big plans for the future of the game, with the potential to work on five years of material. In a new interview with WccftechPrincipal designer Tymon Smektala was asked if any of this material might also include pre-release clipped content. Smektala was quick to point out that the “content clipping” that fans often find in game code is often part of previous builds, and it can be difficult for developers to recreate. In fact, it is much easier for the team to create completely new areas and content!

“It’s not that easy and it’s not really the way to approach game production. Some people don’t understand that when they find remnants of something in the game, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the content has been cut out. Usually, it’s just that – leftovers from old models, most often from Pre-production or early production stages, traces of previous work that we either lost during cleanups or left in the game for other reasons,” Smectala replied. “Restore it costs more than creating something from scratch, even if the community creates these urban legends about them. New downloadable content and other content will certainly provide new areas for players to enjoy, but they will be built from scratch or will be used as prototypes have been more inspiration than Being a real source.”

Cutting out content has always been a source of interest for gamers, leading to exactly the kind of “urban legends” that Smectala mentions. There is so much fun watching content that was once planned and ended up on the cutting room floor. However, fans often forget that the content in question was cut for some reason. Smektala’s response may not be what the data experts would like to hear, but this clipped content could help inspire future plans for the game!
