Blake Lively stuns at the Met Gala as husband Ryan Reynolds shines with pride

The Met Gala – the Metropolitan Museum of Art fundraising for the Fashion Institute – is being held tonight in New York and that means celebrities from all sides of stardom are ruling out all the stylish stops for this year’s “Gilded Glamor” theme. But while there’s no shortage of stunning looks at Monday night’s event, Blake Lively stole the show in a stunning New York-inspired dress, two-in-one Atelier Versace had a pair dead list Actor Ryan Reynolds is beaming with pride.

Lively, who with Reynolds is co-chair of the event, showed up in a rose-hued copper gown with heavy embellishment and sexy bow-hued bustle, all topped with a tiara. However, a little farther from the red carpet, the bodice of the dress was revealed to reveal a wide turquoise train with meaning-packed details. The gown itself is a tribute to the Statue of Liberty with its turquoise and copper color scheme—the statue has oxidized the original copper to green—but the train itself features a hand-drawn celestial map like the one on the ceiling of New York’s Grand Central Station. As for the body of the dress? It also takes place in New York. The motifs on the bodice of the dress are inspired by the architecture of the Empire State Building. It’s a stunning look and as you can see below, Reynolds’ look was beaming with pride during her transformation.

There is a lot to be proud of Reynolds and energetic. It was recently announced that Lively will be making her directorial debut with an adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel, Seconds. The film, which contains script by Edgar Wright, was developed by Searchlight. Wright, along with Mark Platt, are producing. Lively directed Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video. As for Reynolds, it was recently announced that the actor will receive the American Film Award at the 36th annual gala that takes place on November 17.

“Ryan Reynolds is a man of Renaissance 2.0 for our time,” Rick Nesita, Chairman of American Cinematheque, wrote in his statement. “He is an actor, entrepreneur, writer, comedian, producer and creative innovator on and off screen. Most important to us is a true contemporary movie star. He has reached the heights of stardom in films shown on all platforms, in all genres from comedies to dramas to action films Or combinations of the three. His famous films are too many to discern, but he recently achieved unprecedented new levels of audience enthusiasm with Deadpool, The Adam Project” and “Red Flyer”. The Canadian government recently designated it a “national treasure” and American cinema joins them in celebrating Brian Reynolds as the 36th recipient of the American Cinematheque Award.
