Mayans MC Season 4 Episode 4 Summary: “A Crow Flew By”

The fourth episode of the program Mayan MC Season four, “A Crow Flew By,” begins exactly where Episode Three left off: Angel, EZ, and Manny stand up to dying Randall, a man they were supposed to smuggle into Mexico. An angel shot him when he found out that Randall was abusing his son in the middle of the night. The boy soon revealed that Randall had lied about being his father, and that he was just a “friend” who promised them they would go on an adventure. Manny shoots Randall again, finishes what Angel started, and tells the other to leave him to the wolves.

The next scene shows a man with disheveled hair and a long beard laying stones to build a wall. Well, the guy is none other than Miguel Galindo, who made his debut in Season 4. A lot has changed since we last saw him. However, we haven’t learned more yet, because the credits are coming in in a big way.

After the credits, we get a glimpse of Coco promising to pick his girlfriend from work later (a scene that seems a bit ominous), claiming she’s afraid to walk home alone at night. Soon we return to Miguel and his stones. A young boy watches him, and the two talk about why he’s “building a wall for the dead.”

At the club in Santo Padre, the three Mayans from the desert were asked about Randall’s murder. EZ takes responsibility and Canche tries to reprimand them, but Alvarez supports them, telling them they made the right decision. The Mayans do not work with or for these kind of men. Kanch says the move may have killed the pipeline, as well as the club. After the meeting, Alvarez caused an uproar among the Santo Padre brothers when he revealed that Nestor, Galindo’s former enforcer, would be a new prospect. If you remember, Nestor and the club have fought more than twice over the years. Canche tells many to pack up and go back to Yuma, apparently not liking how well Manny has done with EZ and the other members of Santo Padre. The younger generation is trying to follow Alvarez’s lead and become one club, but that would never happen with men like Kansch and Bishop in positions of power.

Alvarez was watching Coco and knew something was going on with him. The two meet and send El Padrino Coco to Oakland to help bridge the gap between Santo Padre and other pacts. EZ is trying to fix things with Canche but it just won’t happen. Kanch tells the new vice president that he doesn’t see him as “nothing more than a walking dead man” because of what happened to his son. Alvarez pulls EZ aside after the confrontation to give him some information about the club’s history, so EZ can understand why he is fighting so hard for a perfect future. We have an official mention of Jax Teller on the Mayans, where Alvarez brings up his late friend, and EZ shares his old quote, “Forget the past, and you’re doomed to repeat it.” In a very Jax Teller parallel, EZ now has a book with outdated information and messages about the club’s origins to read.

Jess, the bartender who finds a SOA kutte in the can outside the Mayans compound, is spying on the club for the Sons. She is terrifying but she shares the information with the Vice President of SOA. EZ tries to talk things out with a drunken bishop but he doesn’t have it. Fortunately for EZ, he’s not in the mood either. The new vice president stuns his predecessor with a correct hook and tells him to learn some respect. Meanwhile, Felipe receives a postcard from EZ’s ex-girlfriend, Gabe, telling him she is doing well in her internship.

A bishop has been revealed taking refuge in the church and building its walls. The nuns encourage him to try to make peace with God and leave the boy Thomas alone. Back in Santo Padre, EZ is disappointed to see his father closing his downtown meat shop. He sees the postcard from Gabe and leaves before his father has a chance to talk to him. Kreber and the woman from the recovery meeting have lunch and share their life stories. We’ve seen nothing but pain for Creeper over the years, so this is a nice development for the guy.

Jelly pulls out a random house and knocks on the door, only to meet a new character played by none other than All Elite Wrestling star CM Punk. Gilly and this guy are army friends, and he’s throwing a birthday party for his son. Gilly gets a chance to spend time with his former unit, and despite their talk about how long it’s been since he’s been around, no time has passed.

Things start to recover quickly. Kanesh tries to inform the cartel of what happened in the desert, but his words fall on deaf ears. Two trucks full of armed men appear to Miguel’s Church in search of a person named Martin, who apparently crossed the gang. The leader tells the nuns that he will be back because he knows that the man and his “son” are hiding there.

After a commercial break, EZ and Angel hold one of their regular sit-downs outside the club. Angel admits that he tries not to come home too often because if he wasn’t there, he wouldn’t be able to mess around. EZ told him the biggest way he could screw up was by not being there at all. Their relationship has grown a lot over the course of four years, and it remains one of the most important pillars of the series.

Gilly’s friend’s wife, the captain of their old unit, checks him in before he leaves the party. There is trauma from their past and she tells him it’s not his fault, but it strikes a deep chord with him. Paul (CM Punk) gets into an argument with another neighborhood dad outside at the party and Gilly rushes around to help his friend calm down. All goes well and is resolved until the man tries to tell Paul “No hard feelings,” which earns him a punch in the face. Meanwhile, Bishop’s vortex continues, as the bartender who’s been drinking and flirting with him all night whips out some Coke for them to do together. Unsurprisingly, Coco’s girlfriend finished her shift and he wasn’t around to pick her up, as he promised.

Felipe is waiting for Angel to come home and they sit at the table to share some cake. There’s not much to be said between them but the scene is parallel to EZ’s comments about the father being there. When Gilly returns to the club, he finds Bishop and the waiter trying to have sex, but things don’t go well. At Alvarez’s house, Marcus has trouble figuring out how to turn on TV on demand with the kids. EZ showed up and asked to speak, telling Alvarez that he had read the original regulations. The president can be impeached by a unanimous vote of the club’s members, and it is hoped that the Bishop and Canche will be voted on and protect the future of the club.

He meets the president and deputy of the San Bernardino SOA branch in a remote location. The Chief tells the Vice President that Chips gave him the green light to attack the Mayans while he had the opportunity, although he is clearly not happy about it.

With that the episode ends, sparking a bloody battle ahead.
