WWE Vet Jim Cornette is having ‘issue’ with Usos, and he’s not wrong on one point

The WrestleMania Backlash tag team match between The Usos and RK-Bro was recently reconfigured to the six-man tag to help launch Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre’s feud. As such, we’ll have to wait to see which one actually sits at the helm of the WWE Tag Team Division. Many would argue that The Usos held the Smackdown titles for nearly 300 days, but not everyone is too fond of their WWE run.

Jim Cornette, a veteran of the wrestling industry, who played a key role in the exploration and development of WWE during most of the 1990s and early 20th century as well as his on-screen management work, recently spoke about Usos. During a larger review of an earlier episode of SmackDown, he offered an interesting perspective on Usos. He said he has trouble with their current presentation because when they are alone they are treated like the biggest and toughest tag team, but when they are with Roman Reigns they are much weaker and can be easily taken down by the opposing Reigns. This is part of his quote from Jim Cornett’s way through

Here’s the problem with The Usos. If they hadn’t been portrayed as Roman losers since the dawn of The Bloodline, if they were just Roman losers, they’d be awesome. Or if they weren’t Roman Reigns and were the tag team champions, I at least gave them a chance… (Jim describes a recent incident where they were easily beaten by Drew McIntyre while trying to get to Roman Reigns). .. there is a problem. Usos beat the best kids facing teams, hold titles and/or in championship matches in the tag team division. But when they cross and interact in any way with Roman’s opponents, they’re the losers out there to take one punch and sell it as if they’re going to the electric chair.
