CinemaScore surveys theater audiences across North America, and people fill out a six-question survey. Based on these questions, the pollster then tabulates the grade and converts it to grade with the promoted letter.
The film’s scores on Rotten Tomatoes tell a similar story. The audience score is the higher of the two numbers on the website, with confirmed ticket buyers giving the movie a new rating of 88 percent. The Tomatometer is slightly lower with a recent rating of 75 percent from critics. It has yet to earn the coveted Certified Fresh badge, which requires a “consistent” rating of 75 percent with at least 80 reviews, five of which must come from top critics. Commercially, the film became a box office darling and is now on track to opening its $200 million domestic weekend. The film debuted at $90 million at number seven on the box office’s list of biggest openings.
