What would happen if Putin died suddenly?

THere were the rumors about Russian President Vladimir PutinThe alleged health condition is sensitive, but nothing was confirmed, until reports emerged that the Russian president would be undergoing cancer treatment.

The question some are asking is what will happen if health issues do not allow Putin to take over, particularly with regard to his successor in the presidency. Putin has been in office for more than 20 years and recently passed a law that could keep him in office until 2036.

The Prime Minister will be behind him

What would happen if Putin died unexpectedly, Sarah Whitmore, an expert on Russian domestic politics from Oxford Brookes University, told The Mirror.

“If Putin dies suddenly from a disease, then the people have to be told and there has to be some sort of organized succession,” she said.

“According to the constitution, the prime minister takes over and then elections must be organized within three months.

“It is very likely that the regime surrounding Putin will choose the right, credible successor to suit their interests.

“Someone we know loves him [Sergei] Shoigu, has been described as a possible successor and is seen as a popular and accepted face.

“Or it could be someone we don’t know like Putin came in – no one at the time.

“Who could be tougher. As there seemed to be expressions of exasperation, it was important that Putin was not acting seriously enough in Ukraine and that he was too nice.”
