Yesterday, LEGO teased a partnership with Hasbro on a Transformers G1 Optimus Prime (10302) set that arrives June 1. Today, the official details of the upcoming Transformers LEGO set have been revealed, and fans will be doing their best for it. The big news is that LEGO Optimus Prime features 19 points of articulation that allow one to convert from robot mode to truck mode without having to rebuild. This is a pretty big deal because it’s a very rare ability for LEGO sets.

As noted, this 1508-piece LEGO Creator Expert Optimus Prime set is based on the G1 character, which dates back to 1984 with the original gameplay line and animated TV series. It will include a box-stack robotic driving array, Energon cube, Energon axe, Ion Blaster, jetpack, optional waist plate and display banner. In truck mode, the Optimus measures over 5.5 inches (15 cm) high, 10.5 inches (27 cm) long and 4.5 inches (12 cm) wide. In robot mode, the model is over 13.5 inches (35 cm) tall.

Transformers Optimus Prime LEGO 10302 مجموعة set will be Available to order here in the LEGO Store at 9PM PST / 12AM EDT May 31 / June 1 at $169.99. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there will be an exclusive VIP window for pre-ordering, so you’ll want to be ready and waiting for launch time. We expect this set to be very popular with LEGO fans and Transformers collectors, so it seems unlikely that the first batch of LEGO Optimus Prime sets will last all night on launch day.

Joseph Patrick Kidd, Chief Designer for the LEGO Group, says of the collaboration: “It has been an honor and pleasure to work together with Hasbro to develop a LEGO edition of Optimus Prime! I am excited to see these two game companies together for the first time celebrating the leader of the Autobots. It became Optimus Prime is a pop culture symbol of courage, selflessness and great leadership as well as a great toy that embodies problem-solving skills and creativity that both companies value so much.It was a fascinating and challenging task to bring him to life with LEGO bricks, especially making sure he could change poses without disassembly and stay true to his form and style Distinguished.”
