Steam Deck has a lot going for it, but it just got an update that players have been asking for for a long time. According to their latest update, you can tweak each game’s settings in Steam Deck to make it exactly how you want it. The only downside was that Steam Deck won’t save these mods for every game, forcing you to re-enter the set of settings each time.
The Steam Deck Latest Update It just changes it. Each game will now have its own performance profile which saves the settings you enter for each game so you don’t have to rely on memory.
The best part about Valve’s gaming laptop is how it gets the most out of its AMD RDNA 2 graphics and 40Wh battery, but this update takes every game’s performance to the next level. You can lower your monitor’s refresh rate to increase frame rate and reduce latency, or you can throttle the CPU and GPU to give you an optimal setup for each game.
The new feature can be accessed in the quick access menu. From there, go to Performance and Advanced Viewing. Here you can set the switches for each game according to how you want it. Settings should be saved and run automatically when you open each game. You can even turn off the feature and it will go back to the global system settings.
So if you want to maximize battery power and are on the go, you can lower the throttle completely in games that don’t require it. You can also adjust settings to maximize performance in games like Elden Ring or Vampire Survivors. This would make Steam Deck a better gaming laptop than it already was.
The update does not allow you to save multiple profiles or share them with the larger community. We hope this addition is next because it would be great to get perfect peak performance or battery saving profiles for different games and share them without trial and error on our part.
This update also takes care of the default resolution when connected to a remote display – it’s been bumped up to 1280 x 800. There are some keyboard fixes for certain areas as well.
Steam Deck has had very strong reviews from early adopters. It has hit some road bumps with stock issues which have been resolved with its updates on shipments.
Steam Deck can also run Windows although there are many limitations.
Valve got several updates recently for Steam Deck, some of which ensured that fan noise was kept low and GPU temperatures were kept at a reasonable level.
