It was a sad time for fans of the Arrowverse in late April 2022 when The CW announced that it would no longer be renewing two titles from its popular shared universe of DC TV shows – namely legends of tomorrow And batuman. Seeing the latter get the boot after only three seasons is particularly disturbing, as it was intriguing to see how Javicia Leslie—the first black woman to lead her own superhero TV show—reinvented the Gotham City vigilante after taking on the role of Kate to Ruby Rose. Kane as Ryan Wilder. Perhaps this cancellation is a sign that it’s time for Leslie to switch gears…or, more accurately, universes.
Many actors have gone very smoothly from playing DC characters to playing Marvel characters (or just playing many comic book characters) and I believe someone as talented as Leslie could make the next successful transition between comic book worlds. In fact, I already have several ideas you could play in some new Marvel movies (or TV shows, even) as to whether the moment has come. Allow me to share these choices with you below – starting with someone who, like Batwoman, is also a vigilante who makes up for her lack of powers with skill…and technology.
Wildstreak
It was very difficult to find a superhero who bore similarities to Batwoman and was not actually adapted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fortunately, I think I’ve found a very good match in Tamika Bowden, which will be known as Wildstreak.
After an accident that paralyzed the Olympic athlete, her father — famous MIT graduate Dennis Bowden — developed an exoskeleton that helped her regain her ability to walk and give her speed, strength and acrobatic skills. After playing the homeless Gothamite ranger, Ryan Wilder in two seasons batumanI believe Jevicia Leslie would be the perfect choice to portray this character’s rise over difficult obstacles to become an inspiring superhero.
Lilith Drake
After a second thought, what if Javicia Leslie is interested in playing someone with supernatural gifts, but still feels some homesickness after the abrupt ending of batuman? Well, the solution would be to put it in a Marvel Comics movie adaptation as legit pat woman Like Lilith Drake – a vampire whose ferocious hatred for her father (the legendary Dracula himself) turns against her own kind with the help of heroes like Doctor Strange and even Spider-Man or X-Men.
There are actually quite a few MCU projects in the works in which the anti-championship vampire could appear – like the next code Replay with Mahershala Ali or the Halloween special by Michael Giacchino at Disney+. However, what I would really like to see and would be really proud to see Leslie in is a movie or series about the horror-centric iteration of Howling Commandos that also features a version of Frankenstein’s Monster and a revived mummy.
Tigra
On second thought, what if Javicia Leslie is still interested in playing someone who has supernatural gifts, but is also willing to move on from the abrupt end of batuman And breathe life into something completely different? Well, the solution would be to put it in a Marvel Comics movie – instead of a pat woman – a woman cat Like Greer Nelson, better known as Tegra.
Once a model before taking on a career in science as a lab assistant, Nelson eventually earned a spot fighting alongside the Avengers after a race from a cat brought her back from death by making her one of their own. Tigra almost had her own original Hulu animated series that she would pair up with Dazzler, until the idea was scrapped, but maybe it’s time to revive that idea as a Disney+ original series starring Leslie as a fierce feline hero.
Daniel Cage
You know, before I found Wildstreak, she was another helpless (but still very powerful) protector that I’d like to recommend Javicia Leslie for Misty Knight, who is probably as close to Batwoman in Marvel Comics for her martial arts training, Expert- the level of detective skills, technological assistance (ie her mechanical arm). That was until I remembered that she was already in the MCU, as played by Simone Missick Luke Cage. However, it will lead me to discover another character whose future inclusion in the franchise is still very possible and would be very cool to see.
In the comics, Luke Cage has a daughter by Jessica Jones named Danielle, who is usually portrayed as nothing more than a teenage girl in distress in the comedy continuity, Earth-616. However, in Earth-15061, it is found that she has inherited her mother’s strength and her father’s indestructible strength and takes on the mantle of Captain America. Now, we’re obviously not going to take that title off Sam Wilson from Anthony Mackie anytime soon, but I think it would be great to see him team up with Leslie as Danielle Cage as a reference to that alternate version of herself.
nammoura
Years before landing the title role batumanJavicia Leslie made her feature film debut in 2016 with Swimming at your own risk. In the original Lifetime Thriller (originally titled killer boss), plays a talented high school swimmer whose secret relationship with her assistant coach takes a sinister turn. If interested in using Her swimming skills in real life In a project on a larger scale, I’m thinking of the ideal character.
Marvel Comics fans have been eagerly anticipating the MCU debut of Namor the Sub-Mariner for years, and I think when it finally enters the franchise, so should its adopted cousin, Aquaria Neptunia. More commonly referred to by her nickname, Namura, this half-Atlantic, half-human is one of the strongest and fiercest warriors under the sea and is just as powerful as its cousin, if not more. Hell, instead of playing a supporting role in one of the Namor movies, I think Leslie would do a great job playing the character with her own flick.
Storm
Of course, if we really want to make Javicia Leslie’s transition to the MCU really special, she deserves to play a character whose transition to the MCU is highly anticipated at the moment. I’m referring to Ororo Munroe – aka Storm to her fellow X-Men.
This mutant with the ability to control the weather, who will also become the Queen of Wakanda, is one of the most powerful and well-known women and people of color in Marvel Comics. I imagine it would be an honor for Leslie to follow Academy Award winners Halle Berry and Alexandra Ship as the next actor to portray Storm on the big screen.
If a part of Marvel movies or any of the upcoming Marvel TV shows ends up not being there in Javicia Leslie’s future, it certainly wouldn’t mean the end of the road for the actress. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ryan Wilder returns for another series, like The CW’s upcoming Bat-Family TV show. Gotham Knightor even in any upcoming DC movies, which will be Batwoman’s debut on the big screen.
