Thankfully, it doesn’t look like fans will be waiting any longer for news, and Fox CEO Charlie Collier says we’ll likely hear renewal confirmations when the next update arrives.
Charlie Collier and other Fox executives spoke with the press on a conference call before Fox offered an advance to advertisers, in which he was asked what happened. 9-1-1 And the resident Via renewal or cancellation news. Here’s what the CEO of Fox Entertainment had to say:
[To] Comment on the two shows you mentioned, we are in good faith negotiations with the 20th and based on our long history with this company we believe we are in very good shape. You mentioned 9-1-1 and the resident. . . . We adore Ryan. We are very pleased that the 9-1-1 Lone Star is closed and loaded, and once again, we are in good faith negotiations and feel good about it.
With both shows being produced by 20th Century Fox TV, negotiations with the studio are clearly the sticking point when it comes to moving forward with news of 9-1-1 And the resident. But in Charlie Collier’s eyes, things just don’t seem sticky enough that the show can’t continue with the new seasons. Sure, the TV industry is one where outsiders might not give much thought to “well-meaning” conventions, but if things weren’t optimistic at all, it’s possible that Collier’s comments somehow reflected that. No one likes to imply that good news is coming, only to communicate disappointments.
Presumably, the negotiations for these two offers are a little more complicated than they used to be 9-1-1: Lone Star And other series from 20th Century Fox TV, because we already know that the spin-off will be back next The explosive season 3 finale. But I hope it’s just a matter of making sure everyone is justifiably compensated, and that there aren’t any underlying issues holding things back. It does not seem as if 9-1-1 And resident Attitudes were entirely responsible for the lack of a tentative preview of the fall, but that may well be the case. Whatever the reason, I hope the wait for more news isn’t too long.
