After rumors and vague comments, Doctor from It was confirmed on Sunday that David Tennant will indeed be returning to the series for its 60th anniversary season and we now have a still image to back that up. The photo shoot, which has surfaced on social media, shows Tennant once again in a Tenth Doctor costume. While the coat looks new and darker than what he wore during his time on the series, Tennant wears a Tenth Doctor suit and tie with white Converse Chuck Taylor shoes. See the picture below.
On his return, Tennant will reunite with Catherine Tate as fan-favorite companion Donna Noble. Details about their role in the series are still scarce, as Ncuti Gatwa will lead the show as the 14th Doctor. Tennant and Tate previously worked with model Russell T Davis on Doctor Who. Davis is also returning to the show in the anniversary season. About the return of Tennant and Kate, he would just say, “Maybe this is a lost story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a hoax or flashbacks. The only thing I can assure you is that it will be amazing, like two of our greatest stars meet in the battle of a lifetime.”

Tennant, Tate, and Davis all left Doctor from In the special titled “The End of Time”, with Tennant’s famous last words, “I don’t want to go…” Tennant later replayed Doctor from Special 50th Anniversary “Doctor’s Day” in front of Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor. He later reunited with Catherine Tate as Donna Noble’s companion on the seasons of Big Finish Doctor Who: The Adventures of the Tenth Doctor Audio stories. The upcoming anniversary season will be the first time that Tennant, Tate, and Davies have reunited on Doctor Who since their previous departure.
