In the past few years, Tribeca has experienced a resurgence as New York galleries leave areas like Chelsea and the Lower East Side to conduct new digs, making this neighborhood one of the city’s favorite places for art. As a result, a plethora of art institutions formed: relatively young art spaces now exist alongside Tribeca veterans such as Postmasters Gallery and Apexart, and exciting shows by up-and-coming artists can be found blocks away from those created by more established talent.

With the exception of David Zwirner, who runs a space called 52 Walker under dealer Ebony L. Haynes, most showrooms in the world haven’t set up shop in Tribeca yet. This means that in most galleries in this neighborhood, the average viewer will mostly communicate with artists they do not yet know, and surprises abound.
