The overall story was a family affair, with the Shang siblings introducing the name of the Five Arms Association. Shang Zhi’s grandfather, Chief Shen, is in a line of terror to rid the world of anyone who shares lineage with Shang’s mother, Jiang Li. The final battle begins in Ta Lo before moving on to our dimension, and Shang must try to master the ten rings in order to defeat his evil grandfather.
Every time Shang-Chi used the ten rings, they started to spoil his soul. He could feel himself thinking violent thoughts and start hearing and seeing visions of his father, Zheng Zu, inciting him to do so. It was originally the property of the ruler of Ta Lo, Emperor Jade, who assigned Shang-Chi the task of recovering the ten rings of Chieftain Xin and returning them to him so that he could pass judgment.
Shang-Chi and Xin trade attacks where they both use rings. Zu correctly points out that Shang-Chi’s fear of the Ten Rings and becoming his father is what prevents him from achieving victory. Shang-Chi finally embraces the power that comes with the Ten Rings and defeats Chieftain Xin. Even his wardrobe turns into a wardrobe that Zheng Zu had previously worn. When Shang-Chi nearly goes too far by cutting Shin’s hand, his sister has to stop him from doing something he regrets.
A month after the end of the battle, we catch up with Shang-Chi. All of his family members have new obligations, and he has returned Shin and the Ten Rings to the Jade Emperor. Shang-Chi initially thinks he’s back to being alone again, but the last page reveals that the Ten Rings have sought him out again. This will lead directly to Shang Chi and the Ten Rings.
