In 2020, the DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU) direct-to-video franchise launched in 2013 with The Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox After 16 films with Dark Justice League: Apokolips War…or at least, that’s how it looked at the time. Two years later, this continuity has been recently reconsidered in particular Constantine: House of MysteryWith legends of tomorrowMatt Ryan is reprising his sorcery hero again. The DC extended short show was the finale for DCAMU, and Supervising Producer James Tucker shared his thoughts on mystery house Going back to the world he oversaw for nearly a decade.
James Tucker has overseen all 15 films set within the DC Animated Movie Universe, and the only tales set within this continuity are the web series. Constantine: City of Demons And Constantine: House of Mysterywhich is included in a recently released box with fellow DC Showcase shorts Kamande: The last boy on Earth!And blue ladybug And losers. While talking to Tucker about his work on the upcoming DC movie Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the MultiverseI asked him what he was thinking mystery house It served as an epilogue for DCAMU, to which he replied:
Well, these ideas were discussed when I was making the final end of Apokolips War. As far as I’m concerned, my continuity is closed. This door is closed. So whatever they do, I don’t really have the characters, so I’m like, “Okay, that’s cool.” In fact, when I was doing the Apokolips war, I would have finished that would have been a more overt rendition. So I had known at the end of the Apokolips War that there would be another continuity created. But there was back and forth, and it was decided that it was best to just leave the ending as it was, as I saw it, and let the following people decide whether or not to use it. So they used it somehow. When I’m not involved in something, I’m kind of unemotional about it, so I’m like, “Well, it happened.” Also, I love The Specter, I wish I could have used The Specter in my set of movies.
With Earth destroyed after the battle with Darkseid and his forces, and millions expected to die before the surviving superheroes can find a potential solution, Dark Justice League: Apokolips War He ends up persuading John Constantin The Flash to go back in time to reset the timeline, i.e. create another Flash point, so that all destruction is erased. Constantine: House of Mysterywhich was inspired by Doctor from, sees Konstantin waking up at the location called DC Showcase Short after the time reset, with no recollection of how he got there. Unfortunately, time spent at home becomes a living hell, as demons disguise themselves as their loved ones and kill him over and over in a time loop. As stated by James Tucker, this short clip also featured the divine entity known as The Specter, voiced by Lou Diamond Phillips.
As far as James Tucker is concerned, he finished the DC Animated Movie Universe the way he wanted to Dark Justice League: Apokolips War, but acknowledged that he had originally intended this latest film to demonstrate that a new DC continuity was being created. Without going into too much detail about Constantine: House of MysteryAfter all, the acronym DC Showcase stands for another DC universe that now exists. And while we do not peek at this fact in mystery houseI would be remiss if I didn’t mention that what is informally referred to as the Tomorrowverse started in August 2020 with Superman: The Man of TomorrowIt will continue later this year Green Lantern: Beware My Powerwhich dropped its first trailer in early May.
