24 of NASCAR’s best will battle it out in the 2022 All-Star Race – but what prize money is at stake? How much will one driver win in Texas?
Although the NASCAR All Star race isn’t a points race, it still holds a big prize for drivers.
There are no break points available, but the playing field will move to the Texas Oval with the lure of a payday waiting for whoever crosses the line first.
This is the second time the race has been held in Texas – after 2021, with Bristol holding it in 2020.

Who is in the race?
Any driver who has previously won an All Star Award, is a NASCAR Champion who competed last year or any driver who has won a race in the past 12 months is allowed to compete.
This is 20 drivers in 2022. They are – in grid order:

- Ryan Blaney
- William Byron
- Kyle Larson
- Kurt Bosch
- Ross Chastain
- Martin Truex Jr.
- Eric Almerola
- Joey Logano
- AJ Almendir
- Chase Briscoe
- Austin Cendrick
- Chase Elliot
- Christopher Bell
- Kevin Harvick
- Denny Hamlin
- Bubba Wallace
- Brad Kiselowski
- Michael McDowell
- Alex Bowman
Four additional slots have been unlocked for the winners of the three stages of the Open Race.
These were:
- Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
- Chris Bucher
- Daniel Suarez
Eric Jones also reached the 43rd machine thanks to winning fan votes for raising the network to its full 24th.
Larsson is the defending champion of the race – having found success in 2021.
NASCAR All Star Race Prize Money
The prize money at stake for the NASCAR All Star Race is $1 million.
The race was formerly known as The Winston thanks to a major sponsor of NASCAR in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s.
Whoever wins receives a check after climbing out of their car celebrating and the other 23 wish what could have been.
Jimmie Johnson has had the most All Star wins with four, and Larson and Harvick were the most successful active drivers with two wins each.
