Johnny Depp hides laughter as Dr. David Spiegel asks court if Marlon Brando is dead

During his court appearance on Monday, Johnny Depp appeared to be hiding his laughter after a comment made by Dr. David Spiegel.

The psychiatrist was called to the podium by Amber Heard’s legal team to testify in the Heard and Depp defamation case.

As many followers of the case know, Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. Heard resists Depp.

The case is in its final week and the court has heard Dr. David Spiegel.

Johnny Depp hides laughter like Dr. David Spiegel

Dr. David Spiegel has gained a lot of attention on social media following a questioning from Depp’s attorney, Wayne Denison, on Monday, May 23.

Marlon Brando’s topic surfaced after Spiegel claimed that Depp’s use of headphones was a sign of poor health due to his use of alcohol and drug abuse.

Wayne Denison Requested If Spiegel made a “mistake” in his claim to which Spiegel replied: “I don’t think actors are routinely given their entire script through earphones. I find it hard to believe.”

“Do you know if Marlon Brando used an earphone?” Denison asked. Spiegel replied, “Isn’t he dead?”

Depp seemed to hide his laughter as he covered his face and shook his head after the psychiatrist’s response.

Depp’s lawyer said he used the past tense, then Spiegel replied, “Again, I know nothing — I’ll confess to you and I know nothing about acting. I’ll concede to you 100 percent. If that’s the norm, and people have done that thing, I apologize and that was A mistake on my part.”

Who is Dr. David Spiegel?

Dr. David Spiegel is a psychiatrist and resident physician in Virginia.

according to Eastern Virginia Medical SchoolSpiegel received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn. This was the time when he found his interest in cognitive therapy for anxiety disorders.

He then obtained a degree in Psychology from Duke University and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Hershey-Penn State.

According to his autobiography, he is interested in behavioral therapies for geriatrics and the interaction between cognitive therapy and psychopharmacology for anxiety and mood disorders.

The latest in the case

Heard and Depp’s defamation case was due to end on May 19 but was extended after further evidence was presented in court.

Closing statements will be made on Friday, May 27 after which the jury is expected to deliver its verdict.
