Production started Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wrapped up earlier this spring and while much of the upcoming movie remains a mystery, the newly revealed wrapped gifts for the movie’s crew may signal a significant change in Namor and Atlantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over the weekend, photos of the hat and sweatshirt given to the crew who worked on the movie were shared on social media with the hat in particular showing a color image that looks like a version of Tepeyollotl, the Aztec jaguar god. .
As you can see, the hat in particular features a cat’s face surrounded by colorful feathers, which is very similar to pictures of Tepeyollotl. It’s a really nice graphic, but if that’s really what the graphic should look like, it will bolster persistent rumors that the MCU version of Namor will be of Central American origin.

After the casting of Mexican actor Tenoc Huerta in the film, there was no widespread speculation that the actor would play Namor, but Namor’s origin would also change. There have also been multiple reports of the film’s selection of Central American characters as well as more recent reports that Atlantis will instead be a submerged city in Mexico or Central America. Additionally, the promotional art that has recently appeared on the Internet appears to contain some references to Mesoamerican design and culture – the actual image itself is blurry – especially the collar and armor on the arms and legs. The use of Tepeyollotl on the gift of the wrap fits into this general scheme.
Right now, we still don’t really know anything about her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Or the emergence of commons tigers. What we do know is that while the character did not appear as part of The Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, that movie writer Michael Waldron revealed that Marvel has other plans for the character within the MCU.
“[We] Talk about him, because he’s definitely an original member of the Illuminati,” Waldron said. But I think Marvel has other plans for it in the MCU. Thus, he didn’t make his way into that particular movie.”
