Barack Obama’s tweet regarding the second anniversary of George Floyd’s death divided some social media users amid the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Ovaldi, Texas.

The former US president admitted shooting in honor of George Floyd on Twitter. Floyd died two years ago in Minnesota on May 25, 2020 after a police officer threw him to the ground.

Obama issued a separate statement about the tragedy in Ovaldi, but the post about Floyd and the shooting was criticized by some.

On Wednesday, May 25, Barack Obama took to Twitter to pay tribute to George Floyd and commemorate his two-year death. He said:

“As we mourn the Ovaldi children today, we must take the time to acknowledge the two years since George Floyd was murdered under the knee of a police officer,”

And the former US president added: “His death is still with all of us to this day, especially those who loved him.”

Obama’s post about Floyd came a day after 19 children and two adults tragically died in a mass shooting on Tuesday. The gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos, is terrifying open fire at Robb Primary School in Uwald.
