Conspiracies are not a new phenomenon

There was also an unusual attempt to suggest that the killer was a transgender person, with conspiracy theorists trying to try to muddy the case even more.
A photo was posted on 4chan showing the transgender woman in question, who has since been harassed online, for no other reason than making up this lie about her.
What’s dangerous about these theories is how easy it is for subsections in society to believe them and act on them.
