Uvald school shooting gives oxygen to conspiracy theories

meIt has been two weeks of pain, extreme terror and confusion in United States of Americawith the start of the traditional summer season with three mass shootings, the last of which was inside the walls Rob Primary School at Uvald, TexasHowever, this event seems to give as much oxygen to conspiracy theories as anything else.

It’s hard to get a sense of people who ramble on theories about an event that left more than 15 groups of parents in a daze, knowing they won’t see their 10-year-old grow up, graduate college, or give them grandchildren.

The repercussions of such a tragedy are endless, there are children who have been taken away from their right to life, as well as parents who have been taken away from the second stage of their life.

That doesn’t even mean delving into the psychological effects on classmates who witnessed and survived the shooting, let alone parents across the United States who were robbed of their ability to feel safe sending their children to school.

Whereas politicians with links to gun lobbies spin like Beyblades to try to avoid directly answering questions Gun laws in the United StatesThere is a deeper, more sinister section of society now putting out conspiracy theories.

Conspiracies are not a new phenomenon

It happened after the 2012 school shooting in sanding hookwhile The Guardian also described how 2018 Shooting in parks It saw a sharp rise in conspiracy rhetoric online.

Within hours of Tuesday’s shooting in Texas, new and baseless allegations arrived online about the person who was later named the killer.

Twitter, Reddit and other platforms have been abuzz with claims that the event was somehow organized in an attempt to advance the agenda against legal gun ownership in the country.

There was also an unusual attempt to suggest that the killer was a transgender person, with conspiracy theorists trying to try to muddy the case even more.

A photo was posted on 4chan showing the transgender woman in question, who has since been harassed online, for no other reason than making up this lie about her.

What’s dangerous about these theories is how easy it is for subsections in society to believe them and act on them.

The Sandy Hook shooting In 2012, there was a long legal battle as a result of hosting popular online software Alex Joneswho was accused of harassing the families of the dead children and accusing them all of being actors.
