How did Eleven lose her powers in Stranger Things?

Eleven lost her powers in the third season of Stranger Things as a result of Mind Flayer.

In Episode VII, the penultimate chapter, the gang is attacked by a monstrous creature, and while they manage to escape the encounter, the Mindflyer manages to injure eleven.

At the end of the episode, a wound started pulsing when a piece of Mind Flayer made its way to Eleven and was wriggling her leg, causing her to collapse in pain.

In Episode 8, Eleven manages to fight the pain and use her power to rid herself of the Flayer’s Mind Piece.

However, doing so meant that Eleven suddenly lost her powers and could not use her abilities in the final battle.

When we catch up with Eleven again in Season 4, her abilities haven’t returned yet, which leads to an embarrassing confrontation with school bullies when Eleven tries and fails to use her powers against them.

Will Eleven recover her powers in Season 4?

Eleven gets her powers back up again in Stranger Things 4, although it was only for a short while.

After going through several episodes without her abilities, in Episode 5, Eleven is transported to a facility run by Dr. Martin Brenner, who was in charge of experiments on Eleven as a child.

She tries to escape but is sedated, then suffers visions of her younger self and the trauma of her childhood. These are urged by Brenner to make Eleven relive her past.

Brenner’s latest set of experiments is working, although revisiting her traumatic past manages to reawaken some of Eleven’s abilities and regain her strength, even if only for a few moments while she battles the facility’s guards as she tries to escape.

But her power only lingers for a moment, when she tries to use her abilities against Dr. Brenner, nothing happens and he says menacingly, “You didn’t think it would be so easy, did you?”

What happens to Eleven by the end of Volume 1?

In Episode 5, after a quick taste of her powers again, Brenner gives Eleven the option to leave the facility. However, she decided to stick with the belief that participating in more trials would allow her to fully regain her strength.

In episodes 6 and 7, we watch Eleven go through more traumatic moments from her past, which ultimately lead to her discovering how the season’s villain, Kina, comes into being.

In Eleven’s visions she is joined by Henry Creel, who in the final moments of Episode 7 reveals a “001” tattoo on his arm, confirming that he was the first child to be inducted into the Brenner pilot.

Eleven who we now know are facing each other, and using her powers, we see Eleven send one to the Upside Down, in the process transforming him into a creature we now know as Vecna, who threatens all Hawkins in the show’s present.
