Darvin Hamm LeBron James
In response to the news on Twitter that Hamm will be the new coach, James was delighted with the news.
โVery damn sexy!!!!!!!! [sic]He wrote before adding his congratulations to the next coach.
Darvin Hamm will be the third NBA coach LeBron James has worked with at the Lakers.
When he signed for the franchise in 2018, Luke Walton was in the hot seat, before Vogel took the reins between 2019-20 and 2021-22.
How many coaches does LeBron have?
In total, including Hamm, LeBron James has had nine coaches during his NBA career since his debut in 2003.
The first NBA coach of his career was Paul Silas of the Cleveland Cavaliers, hired from the Charlotte Hornets prior to James’ 2003 junior season.
However, in 2003-04 and 2004-05, Silas failed to get the Cavs in the post-season and was sent off midway through the latter after a disagreement with the players and owner. Until this season, they were the only two campaigns James missed in the playoffs.
Silas was replaced by Brendan Malone on a temporary basis for the remainder of the 2004-05 season, in charge of 26 games with an 18-8 number.
LeBron’s third coach in the NBA was Mike Brown, who was hired by the Cleveland club in 2005 as a full-time replacement for Silas.
The Brown’s Cavs played some great basketball, and even the 2007 Finalsโthe San Antonio Spurs swept them in four games.
Despite winning the 2009 Coach of the Year and records for best franchise, Brown was fired in 2010 after failing to win the championship.
Change the scene for James
In 2010, James was traded to the Miami Heat, teaming up with Eric Spoelstra.
Under Spoelstra as head coach, James finally won the NBA Championship – back-to-back in 2012 and 2013.
Those were the years that he earned his third and fourth MVP awards as well as his first two NBA Finals MVP awards.
His four-year stay in Florida ended in 2014, he returned to Cleveland and teamed up with David Platt as coach.
Blatt reached the 2015 Finals, where post-season injuries to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love missed any chances of success. He was separated in 2016.
Then Tyroon Lue came on board as James’ sixth different coach in the NBA career, leading the Cavs to the 2016 championship. To do so, they had to overcome a 3-1 deficit against the Warriors in the Finals, with no margin for error from Game five. onwards.
This partnership ended in 2018 when James moved to the Los Angeles Lakers.
