Legion of X Writer describes Charles Xavier’s relationship with his son as a ‘work in progress’

New X-Men Series Launch X . Corps It features Charles Xavier’s son, David Haller, leading his own team of mutants in Krakow. David was previously the star of his own live FX TV series, Legion, starring Dan Stevens. The Legion suffers from dissociative identity disorder similar to Moon Knight, except that the Legion exhibits different mutant powers for each identity. Legion and Charles’ relationship has always been strained, with Legion famous for creating the “Age of Apocalypse” of alternate reality when his father was accidentally murdered in the past. X . Corps Writer C Spurier revealed that the new series will continue to explore the relationship between father and son.

“There has never been a revolution where the person who is best at fighting for the new status quo is also better at maintaining it,” said Spurier. EW. “It’s not possible, because if you’re the one who’s fighting, you won’t stop fighting. If you’re the one who’s good at preservation and equality, you’ve never been the right person to fight for this in the first place. That’s the struggle I like to look at between Charles Xavier and his son, David Haller.”

The prolific writer added that the father-son relationship is a “largely ongoing process” that “will get worse before it gets better. If it does.”

He continued, “We’ll spend more time in David’s head—literally, in fact—than Charles, so his ambitions, hopes and dreams are more the foundation of our mill than Xavier’s approach to parenthood. What we’ll see is David wrestling with his own ambition, and his blurred conception of duty. and responsibility to his people, and ultimately his approach to how best he can serve the transgender gender. Commander?”

Sporer previously drafted Legion’s Adventures in 2012-2014 X-Men: Legacy. Described by Spurrier as an “outpost-style squad story”, X . Corps Combines fan favorites like Nightcrawler, Juggernaut, Pixie, and more to deal with internal threats in Krakoa, similar to the cops working to maintain peace in the city.

“I’ve been wanting to do a circle-style group story ever since I first read HOUSE OF X. In one place. They need peacekeepers, sure…but it’s a mistake to think of them as just cops. You can’t go very far in Krakow if it’s a limit Your imagination is to hit people or reach for a gun. A mutant civilization needs those who think differently,” Spurrier said in a statement when Legion of X was announced.

“This is where Nightcrawler, Legion, Pixie, and Juggernaut come in — along with your favorite animatronic cast and non-transformers. And a couple of new faces you’ll want to watch very closely…,” he added.

Spurrier also spoke about his art partner Jan Bazaldua and the collaborative cohesion of X-Office: “I could not be more proud to be responsible for this new title, amazing Jan Bazaldua doing the work of her life. It is no secret that the X-office book has formed one of the narrowest cells For the creativity added via the title in our industry. It is no exaggeration to say that the events you will encounter in LEGION OF X are dominoes being overturned and the chains of reflections fueling the greatest earthquake in modern comics, a devastating rumble down the tube towards you thus far…”

X . Corps #1 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
