AJ Lee gives an update on her potential return to wrestling now that CM Punk has thrived in AEW

AJ Lee (April Mendez) has been retired from the professional wrestling world since April 2015. But when her husband, CM Punk, returned last August to All Elite Wrestling, many fans began hoping the ball would roll. her return to the ring. She has made a comeback by working as an executive producer and color commentator for WOW—Women of Wrestling Promotion but told Renee Paquette about sessions This week her view of the competition has not changed.

“The conversation was a much longer conversation than people know, with so many things going on in the universe. There were so many choices. It was so long, ‘What’s the right way?'” What is the safest way? What does it look like? Such as?’ It was something I was afraid of, just seeing what would happen emotionally. This was somewhat of his stuff. For me, I retired and retired,” he told me (h/t fight). “I always say, ‘Never say never, but don’t hold your breath’ and everyone sticks to ‘Never say never’. [laughing] Don’t hold your breath, you will die. I just wanted him to be safe and emotionally protected. This was the coolest thing to try. I feel like he’s always in a safe place and he has a good group of people around him in AEW, and that makes me so happy. There was a lot of “let’s go!” For me, it didn’t spark anything inside of me, but the combination of wrestling, writing, wrestling and production, was more relaxing and exciting because it was a challenge.

“I’ve always felt good about the timing of my retirement. You never want to be the last girl at the party, you want to go out on top. It all felt so perfect and tied in an arc. I know his experience is different. For me, I didn’t want him, or I’m with WOW. Anything, I feel like you’re the one who’s going back to hang out with the high school kids. I was hoping it wasn’t and it looks like it wasn’t,” he added.

She spoke about AEW’s Women’s List elsewhere in the interview, saying that she feels Serena Depp is the company’s best female wrestler. Depp failed in his attempt to win the AEW Women’s World Championship against Thunder Rosa last Sunday at double or nothing.
