The roster of characters ranges from Percy’s teachers, their parents, and camp counselor to demigods. Walker Scoble (Adam Project) plays the titular role of 12-year-old Percy Jackson. He was joined by Arian Simhadry and Leah Sava Jeffries, who will play friends of Percy Grover and Annabeth, respectively. The Disney+ original series will focus on Percy learning how to deal with the powers of the demigod when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing the bolt of lightning. The trio embark on the adventure of a lifetime to locate the Thunderbolt and bring it back to Olympus before chaos breaks out.
Here are the character descriptions for the roles of Mullally, Mantzoukas, Kull, Turman, and Sharp:
- Molly plays Alecto, also known as Mrs. Dodds. She’s Percy’s stern and quick-tempered math teacher who can act brutal at times, because she is. It is one of the three Furies, known as Alecto, who faithfully serve Hades, the god of the underworld.
- Mantzoukas plays Dionysus, aka Mr. D.. The irritable and cynical Mr. D runs Camp Half Blood, a camp for demigods.
- Each depicts Sally Jackson, Percy’s loving, protective, and selfless mother. Sally raised her son knowing that one day she would have to deliver him to the dangerous Olympian realm of gods.
- Turman plays Chiron, aka Mr. Brunner. Disguised as Percy’s Latin teacher Mr. Brunner, Chiron is the famous centaur and hero trainer who provides Percy with moral guidance when needed.
- Sharp plays Gabe Ugliano, Sally’s selfish, reckless and combative husband as well as Percy’s stepfather.
Creators Rick Riordan and John Steinberg will serve as writers for the pilot, and James Poppin will direct the film. Steinberg will oversee the series with his co-producer Dan Shotz. Steinberg and Shotz serve as executive producers alongside Bobin, Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson, The Gotham Group, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell and DJ Goldberg.
