Joe Root reached the milestone of 10,000 Test Round for England – he did so with a century against New Zealand in Lord’s in the First Test. Where does the Yorkshireman rank in terms of trial run?
In his first match since being discharged as England Test captain, Joe Root hit 115* to lead his team to victory and put them 1-0 against the visiting Black Cup.
It is the first time Root has reached a century in the fourth innings of a Test match as England got off to their best start under new coach Brendan McCullum.

Root made his England Test debut as ca #655 against India in December 2012.

He got his first Test with 104 against New Zealand at home in Headingley – and has since gone in the shade under 50 of his 118 Tests.
Remarkably, both Root and Cook – the only two English players to hit 10,000 Test rounds – made it to the main stage when they were exactly the same age – as of today – 10,384 days.
Cook is the fifth highest beta scorer of all time – with a score of 12 and 472 – and Root is now the 14th player to reach that milestone.
The root has 53 half-horns and 26 test centuries for the Three Lions.
Among all the active players who play Test cricket, none have more than one rooted Test cricket.
The other members of the Fab Four – Kane Williamson (New Zealand, 7,272), Steve Smith (Australia, 8,010) and Virat Kohli (India, 8,043) still have a way to reach the 10,000 demo and matching Joe Root.

Root still has some way to go to become the top scorer for a trial run.
Indian great Sachin Tendulkar finished with 15,921 runs, nearly 2000 ahead of second-placed Ricky Ponting.
To get into the top 10 demos, the root will have to pass 11,174 Allan Border points for Australia.
