Gotham PD Showrunner was released two months before the movie debuted

Batman It has already finished its theatrical run with over $700 million at the box office and has already begun broadcasting on HBO Max. Warner Bros. plans. and DC Comics already to release spin-off products from that universe, with one focusing on Penguin and the other focusing on Arkham Asylum. Previously, there was a spin-off set to focus on the Gotham City Police Department where Joe Barton was hired to write the script as well as the executive production series. The series was eventually postponed, and Matt Reeves and his company moved on to other projects. Now, Barton talks about getting kicked out of the show, and reveals that it happened two months ago Batman hit theaters. During an interview with telegraphthe executive producer revealed that he was fired in January.

“I submitted the script in November and called HBO to say they loved it and were really excited. And then in January my agent called to say I was fired. If you’re going to get fired from a huge franchise, don’t do it two months before the movie comes out. I’ve seen Batman everywhere.” Barton went on to reveal that he had to take notes on a scenario in pouring rain and the only place he could find shelter was “under a Batman AF poster. It was like being stalked by Fathers 4 Justice.” “

During the press tour of Batman, Reeves has opened up about canceling the Gotham PD spin-off. The director went into detail about what exactly the series was about during a previous podcast appearance. While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Reeves revealed plans for the canceled spin-off.

“There’s one thing we didn’t do that I would have done – there’s the Gotham Police Show, which has already been put on hold,” Reeves said. “We don’t really do that.”

Gotham PD was an introduction to Batman, which takes place in the “first year” of Bruce Wayne (Pattinson’s) crime-fighting campaign. In the film set in Batman’s second year, the Dark Knight encounters early versions of Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), Riddler (Paul Dano), and Penguin.

“The series is going to be kind of like [Sidney Lumet’s neo-noir crime-drama] “Prince of the city,” said Reeves, “that’s where the first year will be.” Because the movie is two years old, and I wanted it to be a debut. But it won’t be a Batman story, it will be about this corrupt cop. And it was going to be about how the worst gang in Gotham was the GCPD. And the [Batman] He would have come across, he would have touched knocks with Gordon which would have been – he would have been someone to measure. But it will be a battle for his soul.”

Directed by Matt Reeves, Batman Stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as GCPD’s James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham Da Jill Coulson, Jimmy Lawson as mayor candidate Bella Real, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as Oswald “Penguin” Copley Butt. The movie is streaming on HBO Max now.
