Technically, it could inevitably lead to Han returning to shoot Greedo first, but it could also add a few things to the movies that weren’t there before. As an example, maybe we’ll see Bo Dameron’s parents as key members of the Rebel Alliance.
It sounds like a massive change, but it’s the same franchise that Joh Yowza added to Jabba’s Palace to make things more exciting. I think there is an argument for making more edits to the trilogy, but at what point would it be easier to fully reproduce these films? This might be a better question: At what point do changes become so many that people already agree that reproduction is necessary?
Many classic films are getting new editions
Hollywood loves nostalgia as much as the masses. If they don’t, we won’t see some of the most beloved franchises get an endless number of sequels or reboots that fundamentally change the franchise as a whole. Some are well received and some not so much. Some studios want to give a formerly beloved franchise a chance at a new life (Such as monsters) and try to mix things up in a way that energizes interest in excellence.
