Jesse Williams seems to have thought a lot about this, and not only did the person who recorded the footage intentionally violate multiple rules, but the actors in a sacred space – where they should be vulnerable – then made the decision to share this content with the world without permission Williams. He knows how important his job is, and has vowed not to let the accident affect his performance, for the sake of people who have traveled from all over the world to see it. He completed:
So I have to be of two hearts about it: One is that it’s not the end of the world, I have to put on a great show eight times this week, and I can’t allow it to veer or creep into that experience. It’s not me on the stage, it’s the character, I’m looking at my partner on the scene, and we’re in a different world; No hack – that’s a really poor choice of words here. [laughs] It’s unfortunate, but whatever. Did not affect performance. But it certainly improved ticket sales.
At least he admitted his choice of word there! It’s nice to hear that Jesse Williams definitely has a good sense of humor about the situation, even when he points out how wrong he released those photos. And if ticket sales improve, that’s a good silver lining.
