Riddle and Sami Zayn, who was representing The Bloodline, competed on WWE SmackDown tonight for some big stakes. If Zayn wins, Riddle will find himself banned from coming to SmackDown anymore, something he’s done relatively frequently over the past few weeks. If Riddle wins, Roman Reigns will have to defend his world championship against Riddle, and Paul Heyman was sure to pass the stakes on to Zayn. Zayn seemed to lock in the win multiple times, but despite Heyman encouraging him and offering guidance, it was Riddle who would emerge victorious, earning a chance at the undisputed Roman Reigns World Championship.
Zane is sent to the ropes and Riddle grabs him halfway and makes a request but Zane gets the ropes. Riddle linked a number of kicks and then carried him, hit him down, and rolled into another hit before going for cover, but Zane was sent off. Riddle hit several punches and then sent Zayn to the ropes but Zayn got out of the ring and got some humiliation of his own, stepping on the ex-husband tag team champion.
Zayn bumped him into the advertising office and then rolled him into the ring for cover, but Riddle was fired. Zane tried again and then hit Riddle on the head, but Riddle got to his feet and threw him. Riddle hit a head kick and then an elbow before hitting a suplex on Zane and a jogger’s knee, but Zane kicked out again.
Zane went upstairs and ran into Riddle, then hit Brainbuster and went for cover but Riddle kicked. Riddle was hit at the post and thus barely beat the count, but he managed to make his way back into the ring. Zane climbed to the top but Riddle met him there, even though he fell back onto the carpet. Zane jumped down but Riddle hit him with a knee and went for cover, but Zane kicked before the three count.
Zane sent Riddell over the top rope and then hit DDT in Randy Orton style. Then Zane was about to taunt the crowd and went into snake pose, and Heyman was upset he didn’t cover him up. Riddle hit a runner’s knee and then fired Zane with big kicks into the corner. Then Riddle hit a huge kick on Zayn’s head from the outside and fired Zayn’s second rope. Riddle hit Orton-style Power Slam on Zayn and then went to Draping DDT. He made a Viper on his own but missed the RKO and Zayn hit the blue thunder bomb and went for cover but Riddle was sent off.
Heyman was punishing him from the announcer’s table and Zayn received the message, but Riddle only carried him to confront him in a pin but he was sent off. Zayn hit a detonator in the turnbuckle and then took off on the Helluva Kick. He went for it but Riddle hit RKO and got the pin and win, then The Usos came out to smash the celebration, hitting him in the ring. Heyman was visibly upset, but it didn’t matter, as next week Reigns will have to defend against Riddle for the undisputed WWE Championship.
