Today, at 12:30pm on ITV 4, OK Corral’s Gunfight appeared on TV screens. Iconic cowboy stars Douglas and Lancaster, who were two of the biggest Hollywood actors of the 1950s and 1960s. Douglas became a cinema legend with his portrayal of Spartacus, while Lancaster wowed viewers in The Rainmaker and Run Silent, Run Deep.
Although the couple often crossed paths, they weren’t good friends at first. In the end, it became very difficult to handle things for Douglas during a single fan event.
The two wonderful actors have worked together many times, including seven films and one theatrical. Therefore, Lancaster and Douglas knew each other very well, whether they wanted to or not.
Lancaster wasn’t afraid to use this against Douglas when the right moment came. According to the actor’s biography – An American Life, written by Kate Buford – the two stars were attending an event that made them stand in front of a group of fans.

Lancaster began picking Douglas’ height.
The actor was about five feet seven inches tall – which fell well under the six feet and two inches of Lancaster looms. Despite this, Lancaster in particular began telling her fans how Douglas used the “lifts” in his shoes to elevate his status higher than he actually was.
It seems that this constant harassment got on the nerves of the American actor, who burst into tears in front of onlookers.

Lancaster died of a heart attack on October 20, 1994, at the age of 80. Shortly after the star’s death, Douglas said his death was “the death of a giant.”
The actor was later interviewed in 2017 when he was asked about his old Hollywood friends.
Admit it: I miss Burt Lancaster. We struggled so much, and I miss him so much.
The two actors had a great time with each other on set. While filming Gunfight in OK Corral, they were forced to stop filming due to their uncontrollable laughter.
In his memoirs, Douglas recalls, “We go out onto the balcony and Burt says to me, ‘Thank you, Doctor.’ I was supposed to say, ‘Forget it.’ When I came to ‘Forget It,’ the absurdity of the spectacle, our great courage, and our manliness made us howl. We did the scene over and over. It made us laugh even more.”
