Netflix and Sanrio announce Gudetama TV series

Netflix collaborates with Sanrio once again on a new series! As Aggretsuko continues to smash heavy metal, it’s time for Gudetama to slip into the spotlight. So if you ever wanted to see how lazy eggs fit on the small screen, your wish will come true soon!

On Twitter, Netflix and Sanrio confirmed that plans are in the works for the Gudetama TV series. The show, which will be titled Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure, is expected to start in 2022 at a later date. And as you can see below, his humor is all kinds of cute.

The TV show will also be a hybrid project with CG animation content and live action content. You can see a little more of this in the trailer for the show as it starts with some live action eggs. Objects exchange animation when Gudetama spills out of the egg’s resting shell. And, of course, the careless yolks are too tired to do anything about their sudden adventure.

If you want to know more about Gudetama, you should know that the character was created in 2013 under the direction of Sanrio artist Emi Nagashima. Despite taking second place in fan content, Gudetama has become one of the most popular characters in Sanrio due to his slow-moving nature. So far, Gudetama has put out countless pieces of merchandise to delight fans. So if you want to read the new Netflix series, you can find the program summary below:

“Gudetama, a frosty egg who has given up life, realizing that all that awaits her is someone’s plate, is forced out of the refrigerator by the excited chick Shakipiyo. The curious couple sets out together on a mission to find a mother.”
