Warning: Major spoilers for Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale!

At the end of the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale June has taken a dark turn, planning to get her own brand of justice on Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes). June smuggled Fred to No Man’s Land where she and other former maids were free to hunt down the leader and beat him to death. June was literally wiped with her executioner’s blood and sent the news of his death to his wife Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) in the form of a unique wedding ring…still attached to his severed finger.

As you can see for the second picture of The Handmaid’s Tale In season five, Serena looks rickety in her mournful widow’s black veil, with that slight smile on her lips. After the black “gift” she got from June, it looks like all of Serena’s conversations with June about making the alterations will turn into something even darker in Season 5.

Looking at these first two photos together, it seems obvious The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 will put June and Serena on a collision course that will undoubtedly catch many others in the crossfire before all is said and done. But then, what kept fans of this TV series hanging there watching it?

Hulu may be a little concerned about its song series losing steam: The Handmaid’s Tale He set the record for most Emmys lost in a year, having received 21 nominations. However, people are still clearly watching the series, and anticipation for Season 5 seems to be high.

Conclusion: June faces the consequences of the murder of Commander Waterford as she struggles to redefine her identity and purpose. Widow Serena tries to raise her profile in Toronto while Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Aunt Lydia as he attempts to reform Gilead and rise to power. Jon, Luke and Moira fight Gilad from a distance as they continue their mission to save Hannah and be reunited.

“We are very grateful to Hulu and MGM that the show is returning for a fifth season, and especially to our loyal fans for their support,” showrunner Bruce Miller said in a previous statement. “We are thrilled to be able to continue telling these stories, with our amazing cast and crew.”

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 will premiere on Hulu on September 14.
